This Inmate Radicalization and Recruitment Awareness course was developed as a response to the need for education about the growing threat of inmate radicalization and recruitment by terrorists in our prison systems, in California and nationwide. As awareness of this threat increased, a task force involving agencies in law enforcement, corrections and rehabilitation, and homeland security formed to address it. The work of this task force resulted in this course for personnel in law enforcement and corrections.
The purpose of the course is to raise the awareness level of corrections and law enforcement personnel statewide and nationwide. Knowing the signs and indicators of inmate radicalization and recruitment and knowing how to report observed activities among inmates is an important component in reducing the threat from these activities.
This course was developed for law enforcement and corrections professionals. The entire course, although unclassified, is for official use only and is considered law enforcement sensitive.
